In Redding the Sacramento River is the dominate feature as is flows through the center of town.  With the building of Shasta Dam in the 1940's this once wild waterway was tamed, Redding has grown since then and embraced this amenity many cites covet!  The river provides the backdrop to Sundial Bridge, Redding Convention Center, Sacramento River Trail System, museums, arboretum and many other features and activities!

The Park Marina Drive area in central Redding is significantly sculpted by the building Shasta Dam.  The gravel from this area provided the raw materials to make the dam possible, what remains is a beautiful area on the brink of being even more so.  The planned redevelopment of the waterfront areas should and most certainly will make this area spectacular.  With its proximity to the Sundial Bridge, Redding Convention Center, Sacramento River Trail System the potential for this area in endless!
